Joshua M. Liao

​Joshua is a practicing internal medicine physician and international leader in policy and practice redesign. Using advanced training and deep expertise in policy and program evaluation and implementation, he has lead a number of systems-focused initiatives and advised local, state, and national policymakers on a range of health systems topics. To that end, he is the only person in history to be simultaneously appointed to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission and the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee – groups consisting of the nation’s leading policy experts.

 

In Washington, he founded and led the Value & Systems Science Lab, the predecessor program to the Program on Policy Evaluation & Learning in the Pacific Northwest. His prior work has also included health systems leadership roles in academic departments, medical schools, and integrated delivery systems.
